Selecting the right build system for your self-build or renovation project is a key decision early on in your journey. It can be challenging weighing up the benefits and downfalls of each potential option. Meet key exhibitors at the show who specialise in each of the key construction methods for self build, helping you asses the right route for you. The Build It Live shows offer practical information, expert advice and a lot of exhibitors to talk to, in order to help you make an informed decision.
One of the daily seminars at each of the shows is a panel debate about the possible build systems that self-builders can use. Moderated by Build It expert, Mike Hardwick, the debate covers brick and block, timber frame, oak frame, structural insulated panels and insulated concrete formwork. To begin with Mike drills down into the pros and cons of each particular build system and then each of the panellists representing the different build systems talks about his or her area of specialism. It’s a really great session for getting a whistle-stop tour of your build system options.
Build It’s team of expert magazine contributors are on hand all weekend at each of the Build It Live shows to offer bespoken one-to-one advice for your project. If you’ve got a specific question about the build system you’re thinking of choosing for your dream home, you can ask for independent advice at the Ask Our Experts lounge. Make an appointment and get expert input worth £00s for free!
The Naked House is a unique opportunity to learn a great deal about Insulated Concrete Formwork, commonly known as ICF. It is a section of a house built from scratch to first-fix stage in the hall for visitors to review. Come along, talk to the experts, touch and feel the materials, look at how they fit together and assess whether this is what you imagined for your project.
See which ICF exhibitors you can meet at Build It Live North West.
There are numerous timber frame specialists exhibiting at Build It live North West offering you the opportunity to meet potential providers for your project and also to find out more about the products, their benefits and weaknesses. Many of the timber frame specialists who exhibit will build a section of a timber frame on their stand, so you can touch and feel the timber and see how the joints fix together and so on.
As well as timber frame, there is also oak timber frame to choose from, which offers various different unique characteristics for your project. Again there are specialist suppliers at each of the shows for you to talk to and hear from.
Homes in our country have traditionally been built with brick and block, and many still are. At each of the shows you can meet suppliers of specialist brick and masonry products at North West. Plus you can talk to architects exhibiting at the shows to get their views on building with these more traditional materials.
At Build It Live North West you can meet a series of providers who offer complete design and build home packages, sometimes referred to as turn-key solutions (i.e. you’re opening your front door on a finished home!).
Design and home build packages are becoming more popular and offer a great solution to the self-build challenge. Talk to possible suppliers at the show and decide whether this is the route you’d like to take.
With all of this to offer, the Build It Live shows are the ideal opportunity to take your project to the next step – make an informed decision about your build system and get going! Good luck!
